LG launches world’s first greatest clarity 10,000:1 monitor

The L197WH from LG is claimed to be the first monitor to have a 10,000:1 Digital Fine Contrast ratio (DFC).

In fact, says LG, this is the “greatest clarity available on a PC monitor today”.

The 19-inch widescreen monitor is powered by LG’s picture enhancing chipset, the F-Engine.

When set to Movie Mode, a pre-configured setting of the F-Engine, the contrast ratio is automatically increased to 10,000:1.

“Ghosting, blurring and tearing are virtually removed as a result of the monitor’s 2m/s grey-to-grey response time. In addition, the L197WH includes a dual hinge, height adjustment and a tilt design”, adds LG.

Nokia Unveiled a Phone Made From Recycled Materials.

So Nokiya with a mobile phone concept, which is completely degradable.

The Bamboo was an entry into the Greener Gadgets Design Competition 2008.

The Bamboo’s casing is made of bio-plastic made of renewable natural resources like corn, and Bamboo (hence the name!), which, when harvested, grows back faster than many other plants.

In fact, every aspect of this phone can be returned to nature including the print board, battery, and antenna, which will simply disintegrate if put in compost.

And, in a lovely, green fingered touch, this process will release bamboo seeds that will grow into new plants.

The phone will also feature an energy-efficient monochrome display, and a hand-crack with which to re-charge the device.

Three minutes of winding it up will provide enough power for one phone call

VISTA Takes This Long In Creation “Why There Is Such a Shortage Of Drivers!!?”

More and more controversy on Vista!! According to online reports, Microsoft dropped the hardware specs for its Vista platform just to raise Intel profits.

One e-mail states that the software giant lowered Windows Vista’s minimum hardware requirements to ridiculous levels just because Intel needed to sell more graphics chipsets.

Intel has since told The Wall Street Journal that the comment about its earnings was simply not true and pointed out that Kalkman “is not qualified in any shape or form to have knowledge about Intel’s internal financial forecasts related to chipsets, motherboards or any other product”.

The email has been released as part of the mounting evidence against Microsoft in a case in which it has been accused of misleading the public with the “Windows Vista Capable” logos it put on new PCs in the run-up to the operating system’s debut.

The logos appeared on system more than nine month before Vista did, but consumers have complained that their PCs were only Vista Home Basic capable and didn’t run the full version.

Microsoft seems to be denying all by informing the paper that it included the Intel 915 chipset in the Windows Vista Capable program “based on successful testing of beta versions of Windows Vista on the chip set and the broad availability of the chip set in the market.”

And the emails? These simply showed how its execs “were trying to make the marketing program better for Microsoft partners and consumers”.

But an impotent thing:

In another email which has been presented in court, a Microsoft board member tells Steve Ballmer he’s decided against “upgrading” one of his machines to Vista. “I cannot understand with a product this long in creation why there is such a shortage of drivers,” he says.

LG showcased New VX 10000

VX10000

LG today showcased the VX 10000 Voyager and the VX8800 amongst others in a range of new phones yet to be launched at the Mobile Asia 2008, India. The phones are top of the line products to launched soon.

The Vx10000 looks like the Nokia communicator, and neat keypad hidden underneath the main screen. The phone also comes with a large external finger-touch display plus live broadcast TV. The external screen is touchscreen.Also cool look.

The VX 8800, also called the Venus is a CDMA slider quite similar to the 8550. Features include a music player, memory card slot, stereo Bluetooth, EVDO data, and a QVGA display.

Green Cell battery unveiled

If every portable device used the same batteries, and every battery could be recharged – surely the amount of electronic waste dumped each year would drastically drop.

This is the notion behind the Green Cell concept.

use safe, standardized rechargeable batteries in all portable gadgets. The environment would benefit from fewer batteries being thrown away, and you’d need fewer chargers for all your gear. Green Cell batteries would even be made without toxic chemicals, and sold from vending machines that double as recycling points.

It’s a staggeringly sensible idea, which might be why it earned third place in the Greener Gadgets competition.

The main drawback: persuading manufacturers to configure every gizmo to the size and voltage of standard rechargeable cells. Standardization worked pretty well with the AA battery and USB, though, But will they be able to persuade manufacturers to configure every gizmo to the size and voltage of standard rechargeable cells – I hope so.

New SDK details of iPhone leaked

According to several sources familiar with Apple’s iPhone and iPod touch software development kit (SDK) plans, the company will use a March 6 event in Cupertino, California to formally announce a number of potentially controversial limitations on application development and publishing, their comments were not for attribution, independently confirming the following details, and offering differing opinions of their importance.

 

The leaks suggest that the iTunes store will act as a hub very much like it does with podcasts allowing developers a payment metric as well as offering iPod and iPhone applications in one searchable place.

Doing it this way, claim the sites sources, will allow Apple to formally approve or deny all SDK-based software releases for its devices and in our opinion opens up the possibility of a bounty that could be added for listing the applications.

 

The story also implies that the SDK won’t give developers access to all the hardware on the iPhone and the iPod touch.

According to the report, developers won’t get access to the Dock Connector hence removing any possibility of a hardware based accessory add-on like a GPS module.

Integrated iPhone or iPod touch features such as the phone, Wi-Fi, and camera will be developer-accessible however, although Bluetooth 2.0 is also under consideration for being excluded.

Finally the article cites that the final SDK won’t be released until Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference event in San Francisco.
